GRIMS Seed Multiplication
The production of high quality seeds for long-term conservation is one of the major operations of the International Rice Genebank. In determining the frequency of seed regeneration, seed quantity and viability are of tremendous importance. Seed stocks with viability percentages that drop below a given threshold must be replaced with new seed stocks. Seed stocks that are frequently requested, or with depleting amounts, must be replenished. (Source: International Rice Genebank Operations Manual)
The Seed Multiplication module involves the monitoring and management of processes related to the replacement/rejuvenation of seed stocks in the genebank. This module handles planting material selection, seed stock requests, plot number assignments, planted sample monitoring, report generation, and label printing.
